The
Leather District an eight square block area of Boston
that is bounded by Midtown, the Financial District, South
Station, and Chainatown (the city regards Chinatown
and the Leather District as one).
The Leather District,
features century-old factory,
wholesale, and warehouse buildings some of which have been converted
into stylish new residential lofts. New projects include
210
South Street, Otello,
the Beach Street Lofts, and Lincoln Plaza. The name of the district, by
the way, derives from the area's former predominant trade,
leather tanning.
