Midtown Boston View Larger Map The Midtown neighborhood of Boston is not really recognized officially as a neighborhood, so there are no real official boundaries. But here goes anyway: On the west, it is bounded by the Boston Common. The southern boundary is Boylston/Essex, more or less. It runs east to west for only about a block or two, encompassing at least Washington Street, and some of Chauncy. The northern border would be at about School Street. This neighborhood is within easy walking distance to everything: Beacon Hill  and Back Bay are immediately adjacent. The Opera House, The Citi Performing Arts Center, The Colonial Theater, The Majestic Theater, and scores of restaurants, clubbing, legions of upscale stores, the Common, and the Public Garden are all nearby. Midtown is very conveniently located if you work anywhere downtown, Financial District, local hospitals, or need easy access to Logan Airport. Midtown luxury full-service condo development buildings: The Ritz-Carlton Towers, The Residences at the W, The Grandview, 45 Province, Lafayette Lofts, The Metropolitan. Until about 15 years ago, the Washington Street section of what is now Midtown was called the "combat zone", catering to the "adult" industry. Suffice it to say that the area has completely transformed itself. Midtown, which wasn't even heard of a decade ago, now regularly tops the charts in property pricing.
